Four Eagles sign deals

WARNER ROBINS -- According to head coach Kevin Kinsler, 19 Northside graduates played college football in 2010. Wednesday morning, four more Eagles joined that fraternity.

Jequandous Albritton, Briar Van Brunt, Deilouse Jackson and Steven Nelson signed letters of intent in a ceremony before friends and family in the school cafeteria. Each said their Northside experience contributed greatly to their opportunity for future success.

"It's high intensity. The coaches prepare you to work hard," Nelson, a defensive back and Carson Newman signee, said. "(Northside) has a history of winning. When you come from a winning school, it follows you."

Albritton, a 6-3, 265-pound defensive lineman, signed with the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Ky. Albritton transferred from Houston County before the 2009 season hoping to get "a chance to sign like I am today."

Van Brunt (6-3, 195) signed on to play quarterback at Charleston Southern. One of the Buccaneers staff coaches is Patrick Nix, son of former Northside coach Conrad Nix.

Jackson (6-1, 205) will play linebacker at Garden City Community College in Garden City, Kan. He said he hopes to parlay that experience into a chance to move back to the Southeast so he can be closer to his 1-year-old son Deandre.
