Three arrested in supermarket burglary

A concerned citizen tipped off police Sunday night about a burglary at the old Piggly Wiggly at 1500 Eisenhower Parkway.

Officers arrived shortly before 7 p.m. to find that 37-year-old Sian Barbara McGinnis of Holt Avenue, 52-year-old Brenda Gail Duffie of Napier Avenue and Gilbert Patrick had entered through the side door and were trying to take copper from the building, according to a news release from the Macon Police Department.

Patrick was hurt while fleeing from officers and was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia with head and neck pain, the release stated.

McGinnis and Duffie were taken to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center and each charged with one count of burglary. Patrick is expected to be charged upon release from the hospital.
