Reward offered in Baldwin County arson

Up to $10,000 is being offered in the arson that destroyed a Baldwin County family's home at 102 McDade Drive near Lake Sinclair.

Firefighters responded to a reported car fire at 12:15 a.m. Friday but by the time they arrived the flames had spread into the roof over the carport and through the attic of the house, Chief Tommy Smith said.

The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office was called to the street Thursday afternoon where a group of boys were arguing. It was later discovered one of the youth was trying to ignite gasoline or lighter fluid in the street, although that young man had an alibi, said Baldwin County Sheriff's Capt. Brad King.

After examining the scene, investigators determined the blaze was deliberately set and are seeking information leading to the arrest of the those responsible.
