UPDATE: Bridges and overpasses icy, Macon buses running

While most roads are passable in Middle Georgia, bridges and overpasses are iced over in many locations Tuesday morning.

Local law enforcement agencies are urging drivers to stay off the roads unless travel is necessary, but Macon Transit Authority buses are running.

Sgt. Jim Adams of the Houston 911 Center said bridges are particularly slick heading into Robins Air Force Base on Russell Parkway and near Moody Road and near the Houston Lake dam.

Macon-Bibb EMA volunteers manned a traffic accident on Forest Lake Drive where a driver hit a utility pole early Tuesday.

Georgia Power reported no outages in the Middle Georgia area but dozens of customers still without electricity near Augusta were ice was a major problem. Flint Energies only had a couple of outages early Tuesday.

Temperatures are expected to rise well above freezing with sunshine which should melt any lingering ice later in the day
