A Macon used car dealer plans to open a satellite car lot on Log Cabin Drive.
Kegs Limited has filed a rezoning application with the Macon-Bibb County Planning & Zoning Commission to rezone 4885 Log Cabin Drive from a residential district to a commercial district. The classification will allow the applicant, James Hamp representing Kegs Limited, to operate a used car dealership and rental car agency on the property.
Kegs Limited currently operates a used car dealership at 222 Emery Highway and this will be an expansion of that business, according to the commission’s staff report.
The 0.36 acre lot has a 1,221-square foot building that will be used as an office for the business. The applicant plans to construct a fence around the lot, and an existing carport will be removed.
“Staff is of the opinion that the commercialization of this property will have a negative (effect) on the adjacent residential neighborhood,” the report states. Also, the report states that the proposed use “is not in accordance with the transitional zoning and land use trend along the referenced portion of Log Cabin Drive.”
The commission meeting begins at 1:30 p.m. at Macon City Hall, council chambers, 700 Poplar St.
