A Bibb County grand jury has indicted two men in connection with the December 2008 rape of a 14-year-old Macon girl.
Willie J. Pitts, 50, of Decatur, and Zebulon Neriah Hawkins, 19, of Macon, are charged with rape, according to an indictment filed Tuesday in Bibb County Superior Court. Pitts additionally is charged with false imprisonment.
Prosecutor Nancy Scott Malcor said Pitts, Hawkins and the girl rode in a car to an abandoned house on Hortman Avenue on Dec. 19, 2008.
Pitts is accused of locking Hawkins in a room with the girl and refusing to let them out until the girl had sex with Hawkins, Malcor said.
The girl told family members about the rape but did not report it to police until about a year after the incident, she said.
Pitts is not accused of participating in the sex, but he is charged as a party to the crime, Malcor said.
Hawkins, of Hortman Avenue, confessed to police that he did rape the girl, Malcor said. Pitts has admitted he was at the house, but he denied locking the teenagers in a room, she said.
Both men are being held at the Bibb County jail.
