A bridge over Interstate 75 near Forsyth will be closed for months, until emergency repairs can be made following a weekend crash that damaged a bridge beam.
Georgia Department of Transportation spokeswoman Kimberly Larson said the work on the Bunn Road bridge likely won’t start until October. It’s too early to know how long such repairs will take.
Larson said the bridge, near mile marker 183 about two miles south of Forsyth, was damaged Saturday when a tractor-trailer ran into it. Details from that accident were not immediately available Monday.
The bridge, built in 1961, carries about 620 cars per day. Dames Ferry Road and U.S. 41 can be used to get to the two sections of Bunn Road separated by the bridge.
