A 2-year-old Bonaire girl died Saturday after drowning in her swimming pool, according to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office.
The toddler was found unconscious in the pool Friday and taken to the Houston County Medical Center before being transferred to the The Children’s Hospital at The Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, where she died late Saturday, said to Sgt. K. Broom, juvenile division investigator for the Houston County Sheriff’s Office.
“It’s always a sad situation when you work an incident with a child,” he said.
The mother of the toddler, Chloe, was identified as Kathy Faletto, a first-grade teacher at Matt Arthur Elementary School in Houston County.

“Our hearts and prayers go out to the family,” Houston County school system spokeswoman Beth McLaughlin said Sunday. The first day of school in Houston County, including Matt Arthur, is Monday.
Broom would not say if adults were present at the pool, who found the child or if charges may be filed.
“We are still investigating the case,” he said.
An autopsy for the toddler is scheduled for Monday.
Houston County Coroner Danny Galpin said he had little information on the case Sunday, other than the girl was resuscitated after she was pulled from the pool and while in the hospital was on a ventilator.
This is the second child drowning in Houston County this summer, he said.
A 3-year-old left unsupervised drown in a swimming pool June 11 and the boy’s mother and stepfather were later charged in the case.
Galpin said it’s important for families with swimming pools at their homes to never leave young children unattended.
