Authorities have discovered the Ford Explorer that belonged to a woman reported missing from Lizella.
Jones County Sheriff's Office investigator Kenny Gleaton said a man doing yard work found the vehicle belonging to Diane Holmwood in the 1400 block of Monticello Highway in Jones County at about 11 a.m. Tuesday. Gleaton said a body was found in the vehicle but authorities are waiting for a medical examiner to determine the identity of the person and cause of death. Bibb County authorities have confirmed that the vehicle belongs to Holmwood.
Gleaton said it appears the vehicle ran off the road, struck a tree and came to rest in a wooded area.
"It appears to be a fatal traffic accident," Gleaton said.
