Thunderstorms whipped up strong winds Sunday afternoon that downed numerous trees in Laurens, Pulaski, Dodge and Dooly counties.
The Laurens County Emergency Managment Agency reported widespread damage in the southwest portion of the county south of Interstate 16, according to the preliminary damage report from the National Weather Service.
In Pulaski County, two buildings were damaged at an irrigation company off Ga. 129 about two miles south of Hawkinsville. A pontoon was pushed 100 yards into one of the buildings, the report stated.
More than 10 trees toppled in Dodge County. Some blocked six roads that were cleared and reopened Sunday night.
Winds up to 50 miles per hour also downed numerous trees in Dooly County.
