Perry man stabbed to death in early morning fight

Perry police are trying to determine what led to a fatal knife fight early this morning on Houston Lake Road.

One man was killed and another person is being interviewed along with witnesses to the argument at a house in the 1500 block of the road not far from the turn to go to Perry Primary School, said Capt. Heath Dykes of the Perry Police Department.

"There was an argument and knives were pulled and as an end result somebody got stabbed," Dykes said. "No one has been charged as it could be a case of self-defense. We're still trying to determine what happened."

Police got the call shortly before 1:30 a.m. and by 5 a.m. investigators had just secured a search warrant to go inside the home to investigate the crime scene, he said.

The victim's name was not immediately released before his family was notified. Authorities expect to release the name later this morning.
