An Oglethorpe man is accused of wounding his 3-year-old daughter during an argument with his girlfriend Sunday morning in Montezuma.
Quentin James Sanders, 33, faces multiple felony charges including aggravated assault, cruelty to children, aggravated battery, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to a news release from Montezuma Police Chief Eric Finch.
Sanders is accused of opening fire at his girlfriend as she got out of his car at the Graystone Apartments on South Dooly Street at about 10 a.m. Sunday and hitting the child in the left leg with a .40 caliber bullet.
"It is amazing that it was a through and through entrance wound and that there was no bone damage," Finch said in the release.
The girl was treated and released from Flint River Community Hospital but may require physical therapy, he said.
Other charges are pending the completion of the investigation, Finch said.
