Woman dies after Warner Robins aggravated assault

A Warner Robins woman died this morning at The Medical Center of Central Georgia after what police are calling an aggravated assault Sunday night at Memorial Terrace Apartments.

Rachel Boyd, 61, died at 12:36 a.m. after suffering a head wound, said Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.

Warner Robins Police Department spokeswoman Tabitha Pugh said an autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause of death for Boyd and to determine whether to upgrade the investigation to a homicide.

Her acquaintance, Thomas Smith, 45, of Macon, was stabbed multiple times in the torso and was in stable condition at The Medical Center, Pugh said. It was unclear whether Boyd was responsible for his wounds, she said, but police were called to investigate a domestic dispute.

Investigators plan to continue interviews with Smith to learn more about the incident at the public housing unit shortly after 11p.m. Sunday, Pugh said. Anyone with information is urged to call Detective Karen Stokes at 918-2980 or submit information at www.wrpolice.org.
