ETSU men advance to A-Sun semifinals

Micah Williams scored 10 points in a 12-2 second-half run to spark East Tennessee State to a 72-64 win Thursday afternoon over Campbell the first round of the Atlantic Sun Conference men's basketball tournament.

ETSU (18-14) will play Kennesaw State on Friday at 6:30 p.m. in a semifinal. Kennesaw State upset top-seeded Lipscomb 72-69 on Wednesday.

Williams poured in 32 points for the Bucs, while Tommy Hubbard added 18.

Jonathan Rodriguez, one of 101 Division I players to ever score 2,000 points and grab 1,000 rebounds, ended his college career with 20 points for Campbell (19-11).

Campbell, one of four teams to share the regular-season championship, led early through the first 26 minutes, but the Bucs took the lead on Williamsâ•˙ 3-pointer and never relinquished it.

Campbell pulled to within one point, but Williams started the run with a three-point play and the Bucs maintained control.
