Gusty winds and snow accumulation possible in Middle Georgia

The National Weather Service warns of winds to 45 miles per hour this morning across Middle Georgia and snow accumulation of less than an inch expected later today as temperatures will drop into the 30s today.

According to the latest advisory issued at 5:30 a.m., the rain will become mixed with snow this morning and change to all snow by late afternoon in north and northern central parts of the state. Accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are possible in North Georgia with less than an inch sticking in Middle Georgia. The greatest chance for accumulation will be north of a line from Atlanta to Athens.

The NWS also issued a significant weather advisory at 5:46 a.m. for winds of 45 miles per hour until about 7 a.m. in the counties of Taylor, Macon, Bleckley, Houston, Peach, Crawford, Twiggs, Bibb, Upson, Pike, Monroe, Lamar, Meriwether, Spalding, Butts, Cowete, Fayette, Henry and Clayton.
