Macon police have charged a 17-year-old with shooting a pizza restaurant employee Tuesday night on Ingleside Avenue.
Travonta Mitchell was charged with robbing and shooting 39-year-old Eric Marcus in the shoulder after Marcus saw him trying to break into a car behind Ingleside Village Pizza at 2395 Ingleside Avenue, according to a police news release.
Mitchell was already in the Bibb County jail when he was charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and entering an auto in connection with the Ingleside Village Pizza incident, according to Lt. Eric Walker of the Macon Police Department. Apparently, Mitchell robbed a person and stole a handgun on Walnut Street just four hours after leaving Ingleside Village Pizza, Walker said. Mitchell was arrested Thursday and charged with robbery by force and theft by taking in connection to the Walnut Street case.
Mitchell, of a North Napier Avenue address, was in the Bibb County jail Sunday night with a $40,070 bond, according to the jail inmate information Web site.
Walker said Marcus underwent surgery for his gunshot wound, but he was unsure of his condition. Employees at Ingleside Village Pizza on Sunday night said Marcus had been released from the hospital.
