Panel to consider permit for car wash in Bibb

An express car wash with 15 vacuum stations may be headed to north Bibb County.

An application for a conditional-use permit to allow a self-service car wash at 5440 Bowman Road is expected to be heard Monday by the Macon-Bibb County Planning & Zoning Commission.

The 1.7-acre site is off Bass Road and adjacent to Kinetix Health Club.

The car-wash facility includes a 3,840-square-foot building with a two-lane pay station, the vacuum stations and a decorative fountain, according to the commission’s staff report.

Access to the car wash will be from two driveways on Bowman Road, and 16 parking spaces will be provided. The building’s facades will be similar to the health club, the report states.

The application was deferred from the Oct. 12 meeting at the applicant’s request.

The meeting begins at 1:30 p.m. at Macon City Hall, 700 Poplar St.
