Ocmulgee River receding after cresting early today

The worst of the flooding appears to be over for the Ocmulgee River in Macon.

The river crested at 20.41 feet shortly after midnight and has been steadily receding since. As of 7 a.m. the water level was at 19.68 feet.

The National Weather Service expects the river to drop below flood stage of 18 feet sometime Friday afternoon.
