Flash flooding possible, Ocmulgee out of its banks in Macon

Heavy rains are expected to cause flash flooding today in Middle Georgia as up to 4 inches of rain is possible.

A flash flood watch is in effect through this evening as one to three inches of rain is expected with more possible in some areas.

Several rivers and creeks remain near or above flood stage.

The Ocmlulgee River was at 18.81 feet and rising as of 6 a.m., which is 0.3 feet over flood stage of 18 feet.

It is expected to continue to rise to 21.3 feet by early Wednesday, which means parts of the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail will flood before the river falls below flood stage by Friday morning.
