The new Centerville Library will cost no more than $3.1 million to build, Houston County Commissioners decided at Tuesday morning’s meeting.
Commissioners voted for the guaranteed maximum price Tuesday morning at the board’s monthly meeting in Perry.
Two million dollars for the project is coming from state grant money, while approximately $2 million is coming from special purpose local option sales tax funds, which will cover the remaining cost of the structure. SPLOST money has already paid for the location and been set aside for books.
City administrator Steve Engle said state officials will review contracting documents before the project begins, then it will be signed off by commission Chairman Ned Sanders.
