Sales tax holiday for energy-savers starts Thursday

Georgians who buy certain energy-saving and water-efficient products this weekend can save a few bucks.

The state’s sales tax holiday began at 12:01 a.m. today and runs through midnight Sunday. Residents will not pay state or local sales taxes on the purchase of Energy Star-qualified or Water-Sense-labeled products that cost $1,500 or less per item.

Some sales tax-exempt products include dishwashers, clothes washers, air conditioners, ceiling fans, fluorescent light bulbs, dehumidifiers, programmable thermostats, refrigerators, doors, windows and skylights.
