Chick-fil-A coming to new Houston shopping center

A Chick-fil-A fast food restaurant is coming to the new Shoppes at Houston Lake on Ga. 96 in Houston County.

Construction is scheduled to begin on the restaurant Sept. 14, said Scott Page of The Ramsbottom Co., which is marketing the 22-acre tract anchored by an 88,000-square-foot Kroger. Construction on the grocery store is complete, and a grand opening is slated for Oct. 29, Page said.

The center also will feature 40,000 square feet of small retail space, plus four out-parcels. A dry cleaner, hair salon and nail salon already have signed up for space. The Kroger will have a gas station as well.

Chick-fil-A will go in one of the four out-parcels, and Ramsbottom is in negotiations on the others, Page said. However, the company is still looking for more tenants, he said.

“Once the Kroger gets up and running, we’ll have more success getting people in there,” Page said. “A lot of people have been hesitant to open new locations with the economy the way it is.”

The shopping center is located at Ga. 96 and Houston Lake Road between Warner Robins and Perry.
