DNA to determine identity of badly burned body in Crisp County

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is trying to identify a badly burned body found smoldering in a car Wednesday morning.

Assistant special agent in charge of the Americus office of the GBI, Trebor Randle said DNA will be used to identify the remains which were found in a cotton field near Blackshear Road in Cordele at about 7:15 a.m., according to a GBI news release.

The remains will be examined at the GBI Crime Lab where an autopsy will be performed.

The State Fire Marshals office is assisting in the arson investigation.
