Montezuma accused killer recaptured in Atlanta

A Montezuma man who escaped from the Macon County jail in Oglethorpe Saturday has been recaptured, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Cordalero Collier, 22, is accused of stabbing to death Shanika Walker, the mother of his child, in August of 2008. He is also accused of wounding Walker’s pregnant sister in the same attack.

Collier’s capture was the result of a collaborative effort of several law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Marshals southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force and the GBI, according to a GBI news release.

Concerned citizens throughout the state provided law enforcement with information that aided in Collier’s capture in Atlanta at approximately 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to the release.
