X-Mart robbery suspect arrested

A Bibb County sheriff’s investigator arrested a 27-year-old Macon man Wednesday morning on charges of robbing the X-Mart adult store at 2025 Emery Highway on July 18.

William Jeffery Lowder Jr. has been charged with armed robbery, according to a Thursday news release from the sheriff’s office. Investigator Eli Taylor took Lowder into custody and the crime still is under investigation, according to the release. Additional arrests are possible.

According to the news release sent out by the sheriff’s office after the robbery took place, a black male wearing a baseball cap, panty hose over his head, sunglasses and a camouflage bandanna over his mouth robbed the store at gunpoint. There weren’t any injuries during the robbery.

This was not the first robbery at the X-Mart.

Feb. 12, two men allegedly robbed the adult store, stealing cash from the register and a lock box. The amount of money stolen this time has not been released.
