Warner Robins man charged with murder in beating death

WARNER ROBINS — A Warner Robins man was charged with felony murder Monday for allegedly beating another man to death, police said.

James William Roberts, 38, was originally charged with aggravated assault in connection with the discovery of a body Sunday at a mobile home park in the city, Warner Robins police Sgt. Scott McSwain said.

The victim was identified as Dwayne Farlee, 47, of 102 Porkie Drive.

Farlee’s body was discovered lying on the ground outside his home by a neighbor Sunday morning. An autopsy performed Monday indicated that Farlee died from blunt force trauma to the head, and the additional charge of felony murder was filed against Roberts, McSwain said.

According to police, Farlee was involved in a fight with Roberts on Saturday at another residence in the same mobile home park.

Police believe that Roberts then came to Farlee’s home either late Saturday or early Sunday and there was a second confrontation, McSwain said. Roberts was arrested Sunday afternoon on the aggravated assault charge.

Police do not know what the dispute was between the men but believe that it was long-standing.

Roberts was being held Monday without bond at the Houston County jail in Perry.
