Strong storm downs trees in Laurens County

Strong storms moved through Middle Georgia overnight downing trees in Laurens County.

The National Weather Service reports 10 trees fell between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. in the county but the Laurens County Sheriff's Office does not have any major reports of damage.

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Bleckley County at about 3 a.m. but no one has reported damage to the sheriff's officer there.

A strong storm moved through Baldwin County at about 1 a.m. but a sheriff's dispatcher said they have not received any calls about damage.

Intense lightning flashed in the night sky with rumbles of thunder across the Macon area but a severe thunderstorm watch posted until 7 a.m. was canceled for the area before it expired.
