A seventh person is in custody in connection with the Feb. 2 fight outside an east Bibb County nightclub that left a man dead, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
Final autopsy results released last week show 31-year-old Robert Saxby, of Crestview Drive, died of cardiorespiratory complications from a cerebral concussion following a fight outside Polly’s Mirage on Jeffersonville Road.
Gilbert Balkcom, 30, of Fairview Street, turned himself in Monday to a deputy, according to a sheriff’s office news release. He is being held on a murder charge at the Bibb County jail without bond, according to jail records.
Ralphel Ramone Adams, 32, a Macon-Bibb County firefighter also accused of murder in the case, is on administrative leave pending a review of the criminal charges by fire department personnel, Fire Chief Marvin Riggins said.
Riggins said a decision should be made by late this week. Adams has been employed by the department for a little less than two years and held the rank of a fire private, Riggins said.He was arrested Friday and is being held at the Bibb County jail without bond, according to jail records.
Also arrested Friday were Maurice Jacquez Adams, 24; William Andrew Balkcom, 29; Johnathan Johntaveou Cole, 27; Felesha Denise Iverson, 28; India Ortavia Balkcom, 31, all of Macon. All have been charged with felony murder and are being held at the Bibb County jail without bond, according to jail records.
Iverson and William Balkcom were also charged with probation violation, according to jail records.
The suspects are accused of hitting and kicking Saxby in the parking lot of Polly’s Mirage. He later collapsed in an adjacent parking lot.
No charges have been filed regarding the injuries Saxby’s friend Lorenzo Davis, 31, sustained in the fight.
