Six arrested in February nightclub death

Law enforcement officials arrested Friday night six of the seven people wanted in connection with the February death of a man outside an east Bibb County nightclub, records showed.

According to the Bibb County jail’s Web site, arrests were made for Maurice Jacquez Adams, 24; William Andrew Balkcom, 29; Johnathan Johntaveou Cole, 30; Felesha Denise Iverson, 28; India Ortavia Balkcom, 31; and Ralphel Ramone Adams, 32, all of Macon. All have been charged with felony murder. Iverson and William Balkcom were also charged with probation violation.

The seventh suspect, Gilbert Balkcom Jr., 30, of Macon, remained at large as of Saturday evening.

All of the charges stem from the death of Robert Saxby, 31, of Crestview Drive, who died of cardiorespiratory complications from a cerebral concussion following a fight outside of Polly’s Mirage night club on Jeffersonville Road, autopsy results revealed Wednesday.

Arrest warrants were issued Friday and the six arrested were rounded up between 7:30 and 11:15 p.m. Friday, jail records showed.

According to officials, the suspects are accused of hitting and kicking Saxby in the parking lot of the club. No reason has been given as to what caused the fight.

Saxby’s friend, Lorenzo Davis, 31, sustained injuries in the fight, but no charges have stemmed from that, officials said.

Davis told investigators he was struck by brass knuckles while trying to assist Saxby. Davis retrieved a .38 caliber revolver from his car and fired once in the air, reports said.

Deputies and firefighters attempted to give Saxby CPR, but were unsuccessful, reports said.
