A Warner Robins man involved in a boating accident was still missing Sunday after a 12-hour search by multiple Middle Georgia emergency agencies proved unsuccessful.
William Thomas, 66, of Warner Robins was not located Sunday, authorities said. The body of his wife, Barbara Thomas, 64, was found Saturday afternoon.
Chief Jimmy Williams of the Houston County Fire Department said about 50 workers from the Macon-Bibb Fire Department, the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, Houston County Fire Department and EMS, the state’s Department of Natural Resources, the American Red Cross and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency took part in the search, using both divers and dogs.
Williams said rescue workers were concentrating their efforts on Echeconnee Creek on the Bibb County-Houston County line.
Sunday’s search began about 8 a.m. and continued through 8 p.m., Williams said. The search will resume this morning, he said.
Officials said that Harold Lyons had dropped off the Thomases Saturday morning for a fishing trip.
The boat capsized. Lyons told authorities that he dove in the water to try to help them, but was unsuccessful.
