Reports that more than 800 jobs are coming to Macon are not true.
Although Andrew Blascovich of Mayor Robert Reichert's office alerted the media late last night, this morning Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce officials told The Telegraph the report was not confirmed and is inaccurate.
A news release from NCR Corp. states about 870 jobs will be created at a new site in Columbus where NCR will build advanced automated teller machines.
NCR Corp. is a Dayton, Ohio-based manufacturer of ATM machines, self-service kiosks and other financial services equipment.
It announced last October it would establish a global Center of Excellence for its worldwide customer services business in Peachtree City that would bring 916 jobs.
NCR's retail line of business is already based in Duluth and the company will be moving its worldwide headquarters there, the release states.
The company had $5.32 billion in revenue in 2008 and employs more than 22,000 people, according to its Web site.
