The zoning commission approved Tuesday a rezoning application that will allow an antique store on Houston Road.
The Macon-Bibb County Planning & Zoning Commission agreed to rezone 6112 Houston Road from an agricultural district to a multi-family residential district to allow the antique store to open.
The applicant, Francis Nowell Jr., said some friends plan to convert an existing 1,765-square-foot residential building on an acre tract for the store. No modifications are expected to be made to the building.
Addressing a question from the commission, Nowell said there were several other commercial uses in the area, including an Ace Hardware store, a shopping center, daycare centers and a restaurant.
Access to the site will be from Houston Road with parking on the side and rear of the property. The shop would be open 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
