Wet weather likely contributed to a greater number of accidents over the 78-hour Memorial Day weekend but deaths and injuries were fewer than anticipated.
The Georgia State Patrol reports 14 people lost their lives since Friday at 6 p.m. when the holiday traffic period began.
One of the traffic fatalities occurred in Putnam County but no further details were immediately available.
By midnight Monday there were 2,794 crashes injuring 752 people.
Authorities had anticipated 18 people would die in 2, 725 accidents with 875 injuries.
