Police: Macon teen’s shooting appears to have been an accident

Police say a Macon teen’s shooting Saturday afternoon during a card game appears to have been an accident.

Devin Heard, 17, was shot in the chest when his cousin, 18-year-old Exzavious Heard, picked up a gun to move it from the table and accidently pulled the trigger, according to a Macon Police Department news release. Heard was in stable condition after the shooting, police said.

The teens were in a group playing cards in front of a Rice Mill Road residence.

The shooting is still being investigated, police say, and once the investigation is complete, the case will be forwarded to the district attorney’s office for review
