Macon police deployed flash bang grenades early Thursday afternoon after a man inside a boarding house at the corner of Mercer Street and Napier Avenue refused to come outside, according to the police.
Sgt. Melanie Hofmann said Macon Regional CrimeStoppers received a tip at about 11:30 a.m. that a man wanted for burglary and entering auto was inside the house.
When officers arrived at the boarding house, a man tried to escape out of an upstairs window.
Officers tried to talk with the man, but he wouldn’t come out, she said.
SWAT team members entered the house at about 1:30 p.m. and found a 46-year-old man in an upstairs apartment who said he didn’t hear police at the door, Hofmann said.
Police didn’t find anyone else in the house. No one was injured, she said.
Hofmann said officers released the 46-year-old man after determining he wasn’t wanted for a crime.
