Three people were injured Sunday afternoon in a two-car collision on Ga. 49 in Jones County near the Bibb County line, a sheriff’s deputy said.
Deputy Paul Hathaway of the Jones County Sheriff’s Office said a Dodge pickup truck driven by Belinda Faircloth, 47, of Jones County pulled into the path of an oncoming Mercury Grand Marquis driven by Willie Evans, 61, of Milledgeville.
“The driver of the Grand Marquis tried to avoid the collision but hit the pickup on the driver’s side,” Hathaway said.
Faircloth and Evans were taken to a hospital, along with Janene Elliott, 23, of Jones County, a passenger in Faircloth’s pickup, he said.
All three complained of injuries, he said, but the nature of the injuries was not known.
Faircloth and Elliott were listed in stable condition in the emergency room at The Medical Center of Central Georgia late Sunday, a patient representative said. Evans’ whereabouts and condition were not known; the patient representative said they had no record of him, and Northside Hospital and Coliseum Medical Centers said they did not have a person by that name.
Attempts to reach Jones County officials were unsuccessful Sunday.
