Man sentenced to 13 years in robbery, shooting at auto store

It took about an hour for a Bibb County jury to convict an 18-year-old Macon man of armed robbery Wednesday, according to the Bibb County District Attorney’s Office.

Marcus Derrelle Pearson, of Little Short Street, was sentenced to serve 13 years in prison and seven years on probation, said Greg Winters, an assistant district attorney.

Pearson and two other men robbed the O’Reilly Auto Parts on Vineville Avenue on July 7.

Justin Ashley, 21, of Kingsbury Drive, was sentenced Dec. 11 to 20 years in prison and five years on probation after he pleaded guilty to robbing the store and shooting an employee. The employee testified at the trial, which began Tuesday.

Romeo Journey, 15, of Oglethorpe, pleaded guilty Monday to armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. He was sentenced to 13 years in prison and seven years on probation.
