One key senior officer position has changed hands at Robins Air Force Base and several more are pending.
Maj. Gen. Martin M. Mazick has taken over as vice commander for Air Force Reserve Command. Mazick, who transferred from Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta, replaced Maj. Gen. Allan Poulin on April 14.
Several changes are on tap for the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center. Col. Lee K. Levy II will take command of the almost 8,000-person 402nd Maintenance Wing, replacing Brig. Gen. Mark Atkinson.
Levy, a 24-year veteran of the Air Force, brings an extensive munitions, logistics and maintenance background to the new position. He has been the deputy director of logistics for Air Force Materiel Command since April 2007.
The change of command was expected in the latter part of May, although Robins spokesman Ed Drohan said the transition date is not yet firm.
Atkinson will become the director of logistics, installations and mission support for U.S. Air Forces in Europe at Ramstein Air Base, Germany.
Also scheduled to depart is Col. Warren D. Berry. The 78th Air Base Wing commander will be reassigned to the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Washington, D.C. He will be replaced in July by Col. Carl A. Buhler, who now commands the 379th Expeditionary Maintenance Group in Southwest Asia. The 78th ABW commander is responsible for all support operations on the almost 9,000-acre installation.
Buhler is a 1989 graduate of Valdosta State University. He also brings an extensive munitions and maintenance background to the Robins post.
The Robins inspector general position also will change hands with Col. John A. Cote coming in to replace Col. Kenneth Sharpless. No transition date has been indicated by Robins officials. Cote is now assigned to U.S. Southern Command in Miami. Sharpless is retiring after 29 years of service.
In the 116th Air Control Wing, Col. Mike Pelletier will replace Col. Kevin Betz as 116th Maintenance Group Commander in July. Pelletier is now assigned to Tinker Air Force Base, Okla. Betz will become the deputy director for logistics, installations and mission support for Air Force Global Strike Command at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C.
