Flooding possible with up to 5 inches of rain in Middle Georgia

Up to five inches of rain is expected to fall through Saturday prompting a flood watch for Middle Georgia.

The National Weather Service posted the watch from late tonight until late Saturday as showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain are expected to develop along a trailing cold front from a large storm system over the Midwest and another system that is expected to develop over Texas later this week.

Widespread rainfall totals of three to four inches are expected over much of north and central parts of Georgia. The heavy rain threat will be generally north of a line from Columbus through Macon to Augusta.
