Riding lawn mowers stolen from Perry business

PERRY — Five riding lawn mowers valued at $45,000 were stolen Monday morning from a Perry business, police said.

The Kubota lawn mowers were stolen between 1 and 6 a.m. from Walker Rhodes Tractor Company at 912 Jernigan St., said Perry police Capt. Heath Dykes.

The thefts were discovered after a Walker Rhodes flat-bed delivery truck was found abandoned Monday morning at Overhead Door in Macon, Dykes said.

A window of the truck was busted and the ignition had been hot-wired, he said. The thieves apparently used the truck to steal the lawn mowers, Dykes said.

Anyone with information related to the stolen lawn mowers is asked to contact Perry police Lt. Ken Ezell at 988-2826.
