Macon police investigating early morning store robbery | Video

A man dressed in black robbed the Flash Foods convenience store early this morning in downtown Macon.

Macon police say at about 6:40 a.m. the man entered the store at 1194 Forsyth St. at the corner of College St. and took a cash register off the counter and ran away without displaying a weapon.

Investigators do have surveillance video of the crime that may be released later today to help identify the culprit, said Sgt. Wilton Collins.

The robber, who was described as a slender black man about 5 feet 10 inches with a close haircut, ran down College Street headed away from town toward Mount de Sales, Alexander II elementary school and Mercer University.

Yellow crime scene taped roped off the store during the preliminary investigation but was removed at about 8:45 a.m.
