Ocmulgee River drops below flood stage in Macon

Fans of the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail should be able to resume activities on the riverwalk today as the water has dropped below flood stage.

After reaching a crest of 21.28 feet Monday afternoon the river has slowly been receding and dropped below flood stage of 18 feet at about 1 p.m. Wednesday.

As of 5 a.m. today the river level was at 16.65 feet.

Friday's heavy rain caused the river to rise rapidly prompting a flood warning that expired yesterday.
