UPDATE: Man charged in death of Macon woman

A 39-year-old Macon man has been charged with murder in the death of a woman found dead in her Murphy Homes apartment Monday afternoon, according to the Macon police.

Jonathan Robinson, of Leon Drive, is charged with murder, burglary and theft by taking auto in the death of 34-year-old Erica Jackson, according to a police news release.

Jackson's boyfriend called the police at about 3:15 p.m. Monday after finding her dead in her apartment at 2410 B St., according to the police.

Jackson's body had obvious signs of foul play, police said.

"It's being investigated as a homicide," said Sgt. Melanie Hofmann.

Police are not saying how she died. Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said an autopsy is scheduled for today.

Crime scene tape cordoned off Jackson's two-story brick apartment building late Monday afternoon.

Saketha Foster, a neighbor, said she didn't know anything was amiss until a police detective knocked on her door shortly after 3 p.m.

She said she didn't know her neighbor well, but said Jackson has five children who are out of town visiting a relative.

Foster said Jackson worked at Macy's Retirement Center on Houston Avenue.
