Residents of a Macon personal care home fled water raining down from a sprinkler system break during this morning's sub-freezing temperatures.
At about 6:30 a.m. the pipes broke in the attic of the two-story Spain Personal Care Home at 3075 Antioch Road off Broadway.
Carol Spain, owner of the home, said she was alerted to the break immediately and evacuated the home's three residents to her mother's home down the street where they could be warm and dry.
Macon-Bibb County firefighters responded to a report of a fire alarm at the facility that was triggered by the break.
Fire crews with squeegees forced the water out of the ground floor and puddles quickly began to freeze in the cold.
No one was hurt in the evacuation but the break damaged ceiling tiles in the upper floor, Spain said.
