Macon man killed in Monroe Co. accident

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal accident that killed a Macon man Friday night.

Chris Schoettler, 47, was traveling north on Pate Road when he failed to yield at a stop sign at Ga. 87, according to a news release from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

Schoettler went down an embankment and into Tobler Creek and was pronounced dead at the scene, the release stated.

Schoettler, who was a former manager of The Rookery and owned A Little Extra catering company, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, the release stated.
