A 61-year-old woman shot during a robbery attempt at her home last night died early this morning. Glenda Sue Mitchell died in surgery at The Medical Center of Central Georgia at 12:50 a.m., said Bibb County coroner Leon Jones.

Mitchell was walking up to her front door at 1095 Newberg Avenue when she was approached by a gunman who demanded money and shot her in the chest, according to Macon police.

"That's the second homicide in one week," Jones said. "That's a crying shame."
