Cochran police catch suspects with restaurant cash register

Three college students face burglary charges in Cochran after police found them leaving a restaurant with a cash register.

Police Chief Jon Thrower said patrol officer April Dolan was checking the La Cabana restaurant at about 1 a.m. Tuesday when she saw one of the men coming through a back window with the cash register.

The restaurant had been broken into three times in as many weeks.

Middle Georgia College police assisted with the investigation and apprehension of three students, according to a news release from Chief Thrower. Robert James Richardson, 20, of Mitchell; Anthony Justin Allen, 18, of Covington and Michael Allen Edwards, III, 20, of Marietta were all charged with three counts of burglary.

Thrower said it was a particularly sad case as none of the students had been in trouble before and showed remorse after their arrests.
