Westside High School senior Rachel Cozart was crowned the 2009 Cherry Blossom Festival Queen during the annual pageant Saturday night at Wesleyan College.
Cozart, a varsity cheerleader and soccer player, was chosen from a field of 32 contestants from Macon and surrounding communities.
Cozart will reign for the next year with her court of four princesses who were named as runners-up in the contest that judges the girls on the basis of poise, beauty, interview skills and knowledge of the festival and local community.
First runner-up is Ashley Fowler of Mount de Sales Academy. Kelly Glasgow of Stratford Academy was named second runner-up. Mount de Sales senior Arah Adams is the third runner-up and Rutland High School's Brittany Green was chosen fourth runner-up.
