Georgia Power reports all but 62 customers have had power restored after lightning strikes caused an outage for 800 customers along Broadway and Houston Avenue near downtown.
Power company spokeswoman Carol Boatright said crews are working on restoring electricity to those who still do not have it. Most of the current outage is along Broadway, Boatright said.
The severe thunderstorm that initiated a tornado warning in Bibb, Houston and Peach counties after 4 a.m. today unleashed lightning that hit a transformer and lines serving the Broadway neighborhoods.
