Update: Macon man killed in morning accident after losing control of motorcycle

A 30-year-old Macon man died Thursday morning after losing control of his motorcycle and striking an oncoming pickup, according to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

Spencer Chad Tomlin was driving southbound on Pineworth Road at about 10 a.m. when he lost control of his 2004 Suzuki Katana 750 while rounding a curve, according to a sheriff's office news release.

Witnesses say Tomlin crossed over the centerline and struck a northbound 2008 Toyota Tundra driven by 51-year-old Idilia Williams of Alabama, according to the release.

Deputies say Williams swerved onto the shoulder to avoid Tomlin, but was unsuccessful.

Tomlin was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia where he was pronounced dead at 10:43 a.m., according to the release.

Deputies say no charges have been filed against Williams, but the accident still is under investigation.
